Bio/ Resume

My name is Alex Field and I’m an art assistant in the film and television industry.

I had some experience as a model maker on the Netflix series The Crown
series 6 production as part of a 2 week work placement in October 2022 and for a
non-production company Zelp when I worked with silicone moulds in April 2023.

My interest in the art department was realised after I finished an art and design
foundation course at Camden Workingmen’s College in 2016 when I discovered I wanted to work in the art department, so I then studied the Set Design For Screen course at Wimbledon College of Arts (UAL) and graduated in July 2019.  Model making, and drawing is my main desired focus on contributing to the film industry.

The theme on screen productions that interests me the most is the period it’s based
in, how the characters live within it and how they evolve when things change around them. This is what I discovered to be most enjoyable when watching any films or tv series, but also how the design of the production feeds on the narrative of the story.  For example, how space, colour and lighting and texture can alone create the feeling of tension without the need of actors.

I am also interested in becoming a draughtsman and to take my model making
career even further, which is why I recently finished a course by Luke Whitelock
during the Writers Guild strikes in Hollywood and will continue to take on further
courses and create further examples.
